Our Approach

More than capital introduction.

The strongest investment capabilities do not always fit neatly into an institutional portfolio.

Valdern works with specialist managers to bridge that gap — combining an understanding of the underlying investment capability with the requirements of institutional investors.

  2. 02Institutional Positioning
  3. 03Investor Requirements
  4. 04Mandate Development
  5. 05Long-Term Capital

From strategy to mandate.

For some investors, the appropriate solution is a commingled fund.

For others, it may require a more tailored institutional mandate constructed around specific portfolio objectives and constraints.

Start with the investor.

We consider portfolio construction, return objectives, governance, regulatory constraints and implementation requirements before determining where an investment strategy is genuinely relevant.

The objective is to approach investors with a proposition that reflects how they allocate capital rather than simply how a manager describes its product.

Fewer mandates. Greater focus.

Valdern deliberately represents a limited number of investment managers.

This allows us to understand each strategy in depth and provide senior-level attention throughout an engagement — from positioning and investor mapping through introductions, due diligence, mandate development and ongoing relationship management.

Relationships, not campaigns.

Institutional relationships are built over years, not campaigns.

Our objective is not to maximise the number of meetings. It is to identify the investors for whom a strategy is genuinely relevant and build durable relationships between those investors and the managers we represent.
